On a makeshift bridge
My feet dangling in the air
Beauty surrounds me
Glowing sky with birds chirping
Am grateful for God’s nature

The broken tree
Spans the cliff opening
Daring me to test
Its strength

Taking a deep breath
I gingerly step
Onto the broken tree
Hoping for the best

A few creaks
But the tree
Holds me solid
I sit in the centre

The tree sags
Under my weight
But I trust my God
To keep me safe

Space II
Gazing longingly
Into space
I send my thoughts and greetings
Out into the void
Aiming for the stars
Hoping for an answer
From beyond

Alien Life
Staring into the void of space
My mind wonders
Are there others
On another planet
Wondering about
Life on another world
Right now

I am relaxing on my couch
In my Living Room
My head is wreathed in a blue smoky haze
A sweet pungent odor fills the air

The stereo is on
Playing rock ‘n roll
I can see the music
Coming from the speakers
The beat of the drums
Cause the haze in the room
To swirl, dance and cavort in time

I melt into the couch
My body and my mind succumbing to the hallucinogen
I enter a dreamlike trance
Where reality is distorted
And time has no meaning

I am free from my body
My mind floats high upon a cloud
Wandering aimlessly
To places I never knew existed
Where thoughts are fleeting
And strange
Never lingering in my brain
For very long

I like to pretend
I am more creative
When I am tripping

But am I really?
Or is it just an illusion.

I Miss Mom

I Miss Mom
I am indebted to

My Mom
Institutionalized as a baby
She adopted me
She gave me a family life
Miss her so much
On to heaven she went
May you rest in peace Mom

I'm Going Home

I’m Going Home

Pain and agony
Wash over me
Feelings of despair
Dominate my heart and soul
My senses no longer work
My time is short
I can feel my life draining away
The end is near

My Lord beckons me
Calling me away
From my wasted body
I’m going home

Fallen Gods, Magpie Tales #280

Fallen Gods

The sky is cloudy
No crowds to be rowdy
An empty square
There is electricity in the air

Crashing down from the cloud
Was a mask like shroud
Landing with a loud clang
The steel mask rang

Lying on its side
Just like the wearer had died
And went for a downward ride
The mask looked peaceful and serene

It came from the sky
In the blink of an eye
Like a fallen god
Isn’t that odd

A fallen god
With nary a nod
Landing on the stone
Bereft of the throne

River, at
Times fast and raging,
Other times it’s slow and peaceful
The best times are those spent in the company of loved ones.

Don't Worry, Be Happy

Don’t Worry, Be Happy

When life gets you down
Your face turns into a frown
Don’t worry, be happy

When a project seems lost
And the work is going to be tossed
Don’t worry, be happy

If you suffer from writer’s block
With nary a poem in the dock
Don’t worry, be happy

Live in the now
Strive to wow
And constantly vow
Don’t worry and be happy

The Phone

The Phone

The phone receiver lay on the desert floor
Thrown out of the door
A forgotten relic from time past

There was a time
When the phone would chime
To signal a call
From your favorite doll

It was the only way to talk
Without walking around the block
To the neighbours place
And meeting face to face

The phone’s time is almost done
And like the setting sun
It will fade into black
Never to make a comeback

When that day has arrived
I will feel deprived
And begin to moan
Because I do not have a cell phone

The Messiah Will Come Again

The Messiah Will Come Again

He was born
On a cold winter night
In a stable
The Messiah will come again

The light of the God
Shone down on him
As he grew older
The Messiah will come again

He preached about God
And religion and piety
And we shunned him
The Messiah will come again

He was arrested
Tortured and crucified
Because of fear
The Messiah will come again

On the third day
He rose from the dead
Defeating sin and death
The Messiah will come again

He is the Lord
The Almighty
And he promised us that
The Messiah will come again

Love is an emotion that when expressed freely spreads peace, warmth, and happiness.
Love is meant for sharing. For sharing by love spreads out covering the earth much like the Phlox flower spreads out to cover the meadow.
When love is shared it becomes as strong as a tree and as flexible as a branch. To endure love must be both strong and flexible to withstand the rigors of life. Having durability such as this love will last as long as the sun shines down on the earth.
Love has many faces. It can be seen in the joy of a child receiving their first puppy – unconditional & unrestricted. Or in the way a mother deer helps her fawn – nuzzling the baby deer. Or in the way a flower stretches out to reach the warmth of the sun – dazzling with beauty & aroma.
Love is not meant to be hidden. Hidden love festers and poisons itself with self-doubt and negativity quickly becoming like a boil – red & sore. Hiding love makes it unrequited causing the love to become hard & bitter pill to swallow.
Like Prince Charming and Snow White finding each other, true love will find its soul-mate.
So always remember that love is better shared or given away. And sharing love will only help to make this world a better place.

The King Is Gone

The King Is Gone
The King of Blues
Was a modest man
His music lit a fuse
That began
A lifelong cruise
Through the musical span
Known as the Blues
His dulcet tones
Created by Lucille
Sunk into my bones
Sounds so genteel
I was often prone
It was all so surreal
His music will live on
Through the annals of time
And looked upon
As sublime
The King is gone
But not forgotten
