Golden Tears

Golden Tears
My heart bleeds
For thee
Logic concedes
To a stormy emotional sea

Waves of sorrow and passion
Clash in
My head
Till I begin to shed

Golden tears

Morning Runs

Morning Runs
The inky black darkness
Is pierced by the white light
Of the bloated full moon

The morning crisp
Frigid air freezes lungs
Sidewalks icy

The stillness is broken
By pounding feet
And panting breath

Early morning runs are invigorating
Especially on a cold
Winter day

The joy starts
In the ethereal awareness
Cupped in my hands

From a small seed
The joy grows
Until like a flower
Pushing out of the ground
The joy erupts out the ether
Radiating outward

Spreading peace, light and joy
To everyone

Pink or Blue

Pink or Blue
Pink or blue
Which color is for you?
Society says blue is for men
And pink is feminine

Why is it like this?
Pastel colors are the bomb
Pure bliss
Good at keeping one calm

So I don’t care
What you think
I will wear
Blue or pink
And I will not shrink
From the ballyhoo

Because I think
Different than you

Great Creator

Great Creator
O great creator
I beseech thee
Let our crops grow abundantly
May our hunts be bountiful
Let us live in peace
And harmony
Rain down your blessings
On your people
Bestowing peace and tranquility
On us all
We ask this in the name
Of the creator

Flying fish churning seas
Colorful peacock feathers
Butterflies dragonflies
Colorful leaves wispy clouds
Peaceful doves songbirds and eagles
All come together
To make my dreamscape
A cornucopia
Of technicolor delight

An Off Day

An Off Day
You can feel it coming
A rumbling down in the pit
It builds to a churning
That is sometimes painful
The churning changes to a roiling
Like a pig on a spit
Turning over and over and over
And intensifying

Movement causes increased
Churning and roiling
However movement is a must
To get to a safe haven
Movement causes
Moaning, groaning, clutching, and hoping

The movement is too much
The percolating moves to ejection
Which explodes out
With the force of a bomb
Coating everything

The purge is over
Energy is drained
Rest is a must

I abhor getting sick

God's Footprint

God’s Footprint
It’s in the air
The birds
The bees
The flowers
And the trees

It’s in you
And me
Our family
And our friends
Some don’t recognize it

It’s the beauty

Of the morning sunrise
The golden hues
Of the evening sunset

It’s the blue sky
The fluffy clouds
The red hot sun
Shining down
On our fun

It’s the night sky
Filled with glowing
Dots of light
And the moon
Shining so bright

It is God’s Footprint
On display
For all
To see

Give thanks to our God
For his love and generosity

I have a respectable employment
Have had it for a couple of decades
It used to be a joy
To work
Now a lifetime
Of working has passed
Becoming a drudgery
Along the way

I started here
When it was a new plant
Things were viewed
Through rose-colored glasses
The sheen wore off
And the real work world
Hit me
Squarely in the jaw
And then the drudgery
Slowly crept in
So now my working days
Are a chore
So much so that
I don’t want to anymore

Retirement is
A few years away
I can hardly

My job is humdrum
Monotonous for sure
I will still strive
To do my duty
Each day at work
Until the glorious day
Of retirement arrives
And this drudgery ends

My mind races
From one thought
To another
With no pause in between

The weight of my life
Rests heavily
On my shoulders

My past
Preys on my mind
My future
Looks bleak
My present
Is grey and dark

I feel like I am being crushed
Like a sponge
By my very

Two souls wandering
This earth
Lost and alone

When they met
It was like a bomb going off
Creating a mushroom cloud

Their desire burned white hot
Like an unquenchable fire
Wild and free

They mated
With a burning passion
That consumed their very souls

Sated, their desire quenched
They parted
To again wander the earth
Lost and alone

Leaving on a jet plane
I know when I’ll be back again
Oh baby, do you wanna go?

Heading to the land of sun and sea
This land is truly for me

I love the weather,
How can you ask for any better?

To say the people are great
Is to understate

The food is to die for,
Can you ask for any better?

And the beer & rum
Spinnies here I come

I love this land
It could be my second home
This land of reggae bands

Jamaica, the land of the wild & free
Let me come to thee

Summer is done
Twas so much fun
The crops grew and grew
All the summer through

Now fall is in the air
The harvest is upon us
Reaping and picking are done with great care
And thus
Our larders are stocked
Locked and blocked

Now let us praise our Lord
For all the bounty stored
In our barns
On our farms

Our Father

A poem/prayer I wrote inspired by and using quotes from the prayer "Our Father"

Our Father

Our Father
Who art in heaven
Creator of all
Giver of life
Shine your everlasting light
Down on me
So that I may bask
In your glory
And proclaim thy name
Far and wide

Give us this day
Our daily bread
Let us be thankful
For the food we eat
The clothing we wear
The house we live in
Our friends and family
For all these things
Come from you Lord
For your generosity knows no limits

Forgive us our trespass
And lead us not into temptation
For we are merely human Lord
Prone to temptation and sin
Instill in us the strength to resist Satan
And all his evil minions

And when our time
On this earth is over
Welcome our fractured souls
Into your heavenly glory
We pray for this
Our Lord Jesus Christ

Agonizingly alone

Nasty night work
Oh how I abhor you
Oh how I detest you
Nasty night work
Such is a life of toil

I Don't Care

I Don’t Care
Work is such a chore
Bosses being bossy
Thinking they are colossi
I am beginning to abhor
Going in through the work door

Life has its ups and downs
Causing many frowns
Thinking is my downfall
Immersing me in a pall
Forcing a withdrawal

My attitude is changing
From laissez faire
To I don’t care

And I fear
That I will never be clear
Of the cloud
That is a shroud
Over my soul

The wind ruffles my hair
Providing the illusion of coolness
My footfalls pound heavily
On the ground
My breathing is ragged
Coming in short gasps
I am in a running race

Sweating profusely
I struggle up a fierce hill
My legs churning
Around and around in circles
My bike barely moving
I crest the hill
And begin the long descent downhill
I am in a bicycle race

Common to every athlete,
Whether professional or amateur
Is the thrill of racing
I am no different
The adrenalin gets pumping
The heart beats faster
Goosebumps appear
The nerves are jangling
As the race nears
I love the thrill
Of competition

Competing against no-one
But myself
I race
The exhilaration of finishing
A race
Is a huge rush,
An addiction
I love the experience
