Add to a poem #53
Add
to a poem #53
I’m
sorry to be late
Please
don’t hesitate
This
challenge is fun
So
don’t procrastinate
Quill
your thoughts
To
deftly demonstrate
Your
inspired skills
As
Poet Laureate
So
open the gate
Don’t
wait
Spread
some ink on paper
Write
a little ditty
It
doesn’t have to be witty
Let
your creativity flow
Write
or type
Whatever
lights your pipe
Double
your joys
Quadruple
your happiness
As
you write what you feel
Let
the rain of your thoughts pour
Let
the clouds of curiosity burst
Right
here, right now

Asterism
Asterism
All
along the route
Stars
line the sidewalk
Taking
turns going to the
Edge
of the curb
Relishing
the fact that they are
Indeed
Stars
that
Made
it in the movies

Road Trip
Road Trip
Went
on a road trip
To
help come to grip
With
the death of our friend
We
addressed
His
last request
By
spreading his ashes
In
small little batches
They
went into the great lakes
Floating
like little flakes
Of grey lint
Doing
a sprint
Out
into the lakes
Now
our friend is really gone
And
we the living carry-on
A
small measure of closure attained
Yet
our grief remained
Somewhat
tamed

A Quandary
A Quandary
I wanna write
But it’s a constant fight
Finding the time
To pen a rhyme
Life and work all
Conspire to stall
My creative juice
Not letting the juice loose
I will not concede
Life will not impede
My desire to write
As often as I might
Writing will always
Be part of my life
Sometimes more
Sometimes less
However I will confess
To feeling the best
When I write
More than less

Memories of a Dear Friend
Memories
of a Dear Friend
Yesterday was your memorial
Everyone gathered
Both family and friends
To remember your life
We toasted you with port
And we remembered
Our dear friend, brother and uncle
Today I write
Through blurry eyes
About my memories of
Concerts, parties, hanging out
Man we had a blast
Then our lives took
Different paths
And we grew apart
Yet no matter what
You were always
Happy to see me
No matter the time
Between visits
You were truly
My friend
I know my grief
Will lessen with time
Yet I will always
Remember you my friend
May our Lord
Have mercy on your soul
And keep you safe
Until we meet again
May you
Rest in Peace
My dear friend
Jim
