Whimisical

Forbidding a hot dog
To ride a broomstick
Causes problems
None could have foreseen

Rain

Rain

Gently falling rain
Giving the earth sustenance
Harvest comes in fall

The Phone

The Phone

The phone receiver lay on the desert floor
Thrown out of the door
A forgotten relic from time past
Trashed

There was a time
When the phone would chime
To signal a call
From your favorite doll

It was the only way to talk
Without walking around the block
To the neighbours place
And meeting face to face

The phone’s time is almost done
And like the setting sun
It will fade into black
Never to make a comeback

When that day has arrived
I will feel deprived
And begin to moan
Because I do not have a cell phone

The Messiah Will Come Again

The Messiah Will Come Again

He was born
On a cold winter night
In a stable
The Messiah will come again

The light of the God
Shone down on him
As he grew older
The Messiah will come again

He preached about God
And religion and piety
And we shunned him
The Messiah will come again

He was arrested
Tortured and crucified
Because of fear
The Messiah will come again

On the third day
He rose from the dead
Defeating sin and death
The Messiah will come again

He is the Lord
The Almighty
And he promised us that
The Messiah will come again

Running

Running
Wind messing my hair
Sun on my face
Sweating profusely
Breathing ragged
Legs tired
Heart pounding
Running wild and free
Feeling exhilarated

Closure

Closure

Burial of a
loved one provides closure to
those relatives still
alive in the world today
the living honor the dead
